Saving our stories

This is a photo of our grandmother, Hazle Henry Gibbs Howard. I believe it was taken for her high school graduation photo. It is a beautiful photo and I hope all of her family has a copy of it.

I have been thinking a lot about the old photos and the stories shared by Grandma and her children, Bill Gibbs, Eddy Howard, Jim Howard, Clio Howard LaVelle and Susie Howard Casto. With the deaths of Uncle Bill and Aunt Susie in December of 2011 they are all gone. Ginger and I have talked about our desire to keep those stories alive and get them right. It is such an interesting history, peopled with great characters.

Yesterday, we attended Aunt Florence's 90th birthday party and I suggested we start a private blog where we can post photos, information and stories. Ginger, Eldon and Robin all thought it was a good idea, so here it is. Once we have the family members set up to post I will make the blog invisible to the outside world. If you want to post here let me know and I will add you as an "author."

Please share your old photos, stories, questions, etc. This blog can also serve to help us keep track of one another, so I have set up a page where we can list our contact information. This is certainly not mandatory, but I can assure you it will not be available beyond the readers of this blog.

I hope you will embrace this! I look forward to your posts and photos.
